Newsletters and Bulletins

A newsletter is an easy way to keep co-workers, employees, customers, potential customers, and club members up to date on the latest developments and news.

To be an effective method of communication, a newsletter must be clear, interesting, and geared towards the intended audience.

Newsletters are a permanent history of your company, club, or group, and are an easy way to acquaint new employees and potential customers with your company, its values, employees, and work ethic.

AMG believes in the importance of effective communication. We will work with you to develop the best communication vector(s) for your business, club, or organization.

Not all newsletters are printed on paper! AMG is fully capable of helping set up and produce an electronic newsletter for distribution to local employees via your LAN, or even over the Internet to branch offices or telecommuters, either via structured e-mail or as components of the company's web pages.

The Look - Printed

Newsletters and bulletins can appear in almost any form. How yours will look really depends on several things:

  • the quantities you will be producing
  • the frequency of production (weekly, monthly, etc.)
  • how it will be reproduced
  • how it will be delivered
  • if it will be displayed (and if so, how and where)
  • ,
  • who your audience is
  • your budget

Newsletters are tricky things to develop: more often than not, the customer has to scale back his desires. That is, if you don't take a reality-based approach in the first place. That's where we come in. We have over a decade of experience with the design and production of newsletters. We know how long it takes to get one page of text assembled, how long it really takes to go over a proof properly, how many phonecalls or e-mails it takes to 'remind' someone that their contribution was due yesterday, and how to tactfully deal with our contact's superiors who wish to make "just a few suggestions" after the issue has been finalized and is on the way to the printer.

We understand the tyrrany of the budget. We can help you develop and produce the best newsletter for the price. It's all in the design -- if you put it together right, you can produce a newsletter that looks like it's been professionally printed, even though you duplicated it on a photocopier. Inexpensive does not mean cheap, nor does it mean that it was just hastily thrown together.

A few words about design. Your newsletter is a physical representation of your company or group. The odds are that you have spent a fair bit of time, effort, and money developing the symbols that represent your group -- your logo, name, and any other symbol that you wish to have instantly recognized as part of you. It is extremely important that you respect those symbols -- if you don't, why would anyone else? This is all part of what is generally called an identity package, for businesses or groups. The Look - Electronic

Electronic bulletins or newsletters can take several forms, ranging from plain structured e-mail to complex web pages, and even downloadable files ready to print out (for example, Adobe Acrobat PDF files).

The final decision on how an electronically-transmitted newsletter will look, and how it gets to its final destination, is entirely up to you, the customer. AMG can assist you with making that decision, by providing useful information based on our experience.

The initial design work for electronic newsletters can take a bit longer than a printed version, since the Web still has certain spacing and placement problems. Just as for printed newsletters, strict adherence to your "identity elements" is necessary. You wouldn't accept your logo or name being printed in the wrong shade of blue, so you shouldn't accept it appearing on the Web in the wrong shade, either. We strongly believe in getting it right the first time.

We can arrange to produce your newsletter on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, etc.), or we can design the first one and provide you with a complete template, so you can produce it yourself afterwards. Of course, if you run into problems, or need something added or changed, we can do it for you quickly and efficiently. If you like the idea of producing it yourself, we can arrange to train the person(s) who would be doing the work -- the basic skills learned from us could be easily put to use on other aspects of your Internet-based presence.
